World Backup Day
This Sunday is World Backup Day, the day we, who work with technology, remind you of how important it is to back up your data.
Considering our area of expertise, we do this much more often than once a year with clients, but we’ll use this annual world event as another reminder.
Here’s the message to remember:
Your Data Is More Valuable Than Any Of Your Devices
Hardware is cheap and getting cheaper. Do you know what’s expensive or even priceless? That business plan you spent three weeks writing, the collection of music and movies you have on your hard drive and the digital video of your child’s first steps.
You can get a new computer or phone, but try replacing those important files.

What Should You Do?
When you back up your data, you’re making a second copy of anything and everything that you don’t want to lose. Should something happen to the originals, you can restore the backups to your computer (or phone, tablet) with a backup service.
Technically, a backup just refers to any piece of data that exists in two places. The primary purpose of a backup is to have a recovery plan should your original data become inaccessible.
Why You Should Back Up
There are many scenarios that could take place where having a backup of your data would be useful:
- Your business network is compromised and important data is lost
- A ransomware virus holds your data hostage until you pay to remove the restraints
- You forget your laptop in a cafe and all your work is gone
- You accidentally delete important documents
Business-critical data, systems, desktops, servers, and your entire infrastructure must be protected and recoverable.
Our Backup Solution
Our business continuity and backup solution provides the ultimate failsafe in a layered defence approach.
It automatically and invisibly takes snapshots of your data and systems at regular intervals, and stores the data in a secure location. Should a disaster occur, we can simply ‘turn back the clock’ to a snapshot of your business before the incident happened and recover your data without you incurring any damage, or experiencing any downtime.
