Skype For Business
Skype for Business is a secure and upgraded version of the globally adopted consumer edition of Skype.
However, although they share a common name Skype for Business and Skype are vastly different in their features and functions.
Skype is free and a great social communication tool, but it doesn’t have the security and multi-functional requirements suitable for business operations.
Skype for Business is a communications and collaboration platform that brings together the familiar experience of the consumer version of Skype, but with enterprise-grade security and increased functionality which makes it capable of replacing office telephone systems.
One immediate benefit of Skype for Business is that it can significantly reduce your phone bills, which is particularly helpful for start-ups or small businesses. It can also be used on all mobile devices including iOS and Android.
It has all the same functions as a traditional office phone system, but because Skype is cloud-based software it allows users to be mobile and remain connected using multiple forms of communication.
The range of available communication tools is extensive. You can choose between instant messaging, voice calls, video calls, screen and file sharing, and conference calls involving up to 250 users.
Skype for Business is user-friendly and works with the Microsoft Office applications that you already know. You can integrate your Outlook contacts easily and then simply hover over their names and select the IM or call button. It also works with your Outlook calendar and those of your contacts so you know who’s available when you are.
Skype for Business has dial-in conference invites which are built into Outlook to easily set-up phone or video meetings; you can schedule or set up impromptu meetings with anyone, anywhere. Video conferencing has become an important business tool for communication between employees who are spread out or on-the-go. During your video conferences you can easily share files, record your meetings in HD and also archive them.
